Just For Kids

Live Bat Encounter- Saturday July 23- 11 a.m. EST.  Admission $5/child;$10/adult.
Chikaming Open Lands teams with the Organization for Bat Conservation from Detroit for this exciting, up close encounter with these furry, night-loving, flying animals. Rob Mies, Director of OBC, will bring one of his favorite bats-- the Gigantic Flying Fox Bat from Malayasia, with a wingspan of 6 feet!!



Easter Egg Hunt: Saturday, April 22nd at 1:00 p.m. (EST), Lakeside Park.
Join the Easter Bunny and your little ones to hunt for Easter eggs at this annual event sponsored by the Lakeside Association.  Prizes include the Golden Egg ( with $10 hidden inside), photos and a chance to name the Easter Bunny. 


Spring Things

Fernwood has lots of activities for smalls and bigs this spring:

Birds of Fernwood: Saturday, April 16th 8-11:30.  Walk with a naturalist through the gardens and arboretum for recent bird arrivals.  Fees: $12/Members $10.  Register required by April 15th.

Nature Saplings: Frogs:  Saturday April 16th -  For childre ages 2 1/2 - 3 1/2 with an adult.  Children will learn about and search for frogs.  Dress for trail walking.  Fees: $5 per child/adult pair/ Members $4 per child/adult pair.
